Causerie Called “Cotacachi” – Part 11

I prayed for 18 months that someday there would be a church where I could go here in Cotacachi – an English Church. It was the end of June this year (2010), that a missionary friend handed me a little flier, advertising a first ever English Church opening – and it is just down the road from where I live. Does God answer prayer? He always does – always in our favor, even if we consider His answer unfavorable. It is not! It’s for our good.

Washington (facing us), is the Pastor of the “Amigos en Cristo” Iglesia, an Evangelical Church. He is seen talking to Cristian, who is responsible for the newly-formed English Services.

Julie, is Washington’s wife, and her son is one of the musicians in the music team. Both Washington and Julie have a good command of the English language.

During the year volunteers from the U.S.A. came to Cotacachi, and they were involved in Praise and Worship, they helped out with a youth camp and even painted the Church.

Bill, an ordained Minister/musician, and his lovely family are here in Cotacachi for a year. What an absolute blessing his sermons have been! What a godly family! Cotacachi, and especially our little handful of Christians, have been so blessed through them. It is interesting to watch God’s plan pan out. Three important events occurred, all within a few short weeks.

Dan and Cindy are from the USA, and they opened up a first-time Christian Bookstore in Cotacachi, in a new shopping center, including a Restaurante, called the Solid Rock. Then Bill and his wife Sidney and their three lovely daughters arrived, and shortly after their arrival, the English Church was started. Coincidental? No, I do not think so. God-directed – Yes!

The number of Christians that attend varies. Visitors may attend, and then there are those that fly back and forth to the States to visit their families. It is amazing how many Christians the Lord is sending to Cotacachi.

Charlie and Joan arrived in August this year, and we are so thrilled that they will soon have their Permanent Residencies in Ecuador. What a blessing they are! Sent by God to Cotacachi. And so our Christian family is growing.

The Spanish services start at 8:15am and the English one at 10:30.

Quite recently we were favored with a visit by a lovely Christian couple from the States. Ed and his wife, June. They are contemplating coming to Ecuador on a permanent basis, hopefully they will live in Cotacachi.

Recently we were favored by a visit from young people based at the Liebenzel Mission in Ibarra – a group of young people from Germany, who have come to spend a year in Ecuador to serve the Lord. What a blessing they are! They are vibrant for the Lord. God has plans for Cotacachi, a little town in great need of salvation in Jesus Christ.

That is a very brief introduction to our newly-formed Church that meets every alternate Sunday. I will now take you to the Spanish side of this Church.
